The all-in-one application for divers

Summary

An insurance provider director came to our offices to create an application that could potentially cover all the needs of the dive practitioners outside the water. As UX Developer, I was mainly in charge of the technological aspects of the project. With a lot of possible needs to cover and different ways of giving answer to the problems, we made different navigation and navigation proposals in order to achieve the best balance between user’s needs and client satisfaction.

My contributions included, visual style and information architecture definition, copywritting, coherence between behaviors and interactions and last but not least all the coding.

The project

The client came with a cristal clear idea in his mind, about what divers need outside the water. He wanted to put at the users’ fingertips, three main areas: travel agencies to diving destinations, diving centers and diving shops. Then we began to work on understanding how each of this areas were connected to each other.

Figuring out the most efficient way of displaying the information to the user and how we could simplify the interaction. Some of the client’s requirements put us into a hard position, but we ended up betting on a way of organizing the information that gave us the flexibility we set ourselves.

Lessons learnt

Spending some time discussing about what are we going to do, saves up a lot of time in the long run. Sometimes being able to comunicate this simple idea to a client or a boss, is the difference between a successful outcome and a crash.
